This painting was created for a Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead exhibit. It is a celebration in November. At this time of the year the veil between the earthly world and the spirit world is believed to be the thinest. It is a time to communicate with those that have passed on and because the marigold holds such a strong scent it is used to attract the spirits.
